Tour of Baroque Sicily 5 days

DAY 1 SYRACUSE

Arrive at Catania airport, transfer to Syracuse and check into Des Foreigners hotel.

4:30 p.m.: Meet the guide and begin the walking tour through the beautiful island of Ortigia, Syracuse's ancient historic center, among its alleys and breathtaking views of the sea.

7 p.m.: Return to the hotel.

8:30 pm: Dinner at Palazzo Beneventano del Bosco, received from Baron del Bosco. The palace, located in the Piazza del Duomo on the island of Ortigia in Syracuse, is considered one of the island's most beautiful Baroque elements.

It features an elegant inner courtyard with Baroque elements and houses richly decorated rooms with polychrome frescoes and stuccoes, as well as a chapel with a large wooden crucifix.

Return to the hotel.

DAY 2 SYRACUSE

08:45 a.m.: Meeting with the guide and beginning of the visit to the archaeological site of Syracuse, which is rich in ruins dating from different periods of Syracuse's history. From the number and importance of its monuments, it is one of the largest in the Mediterranean basin. We will visit the Altar of Leros II, the Greek Theater, the Roman Amphitheater, the Arch of Triumph of Augustus, and the Latomies of Neapolis.

1 p.m.: Lunch at Villa Borghese, received by Princess Maria Carla Borghese, and visit to the Biviere garden, in an atmosphere of a thousand unusual and evocative moments, among the aloes and agaves, the old pier and the lush tree trunks. The Biviere garden is one of these of the most beautiful rose gardens in Italy and is part of the Great Rose Gardens of Italian Gardens.

4 p.m.: Guided tour of Euryalus Castle, the top of Syracuse's fortification. The building, equipped with a highly effective internal defense system that made it easy and quick to move in and outDof the fortress, is a splendid example of ancient Greek fortification.

6 p.m.: Visit to the Basilica of Santa Lucia al Sepolcro, accompanied by Baron Beneventano to discover the mysteries of Caravaggio's painting.

7:30 p.m.: Return to the hotel.

9 pm: Dinner at a famous restaurant in Syracuse. Return to hotel.

DAY 3 NOTO and RAGUSA

8:00 am: Meeting with guide and departure for Noto, guided tour of this wonderful Baroque city, rich in churches and palaces of the nobility. Short stop to taste the ancient flavors of tradition and savor one of the best homemade ice creams in Sicily at the famous Caffè Sicilia. Afterwards we will continue to Vendicari and admire the crystal clear waters of the nature reserve.

12:30 p.m.: Lunch at Feudo del Castelluccio in Vendicari, continuing a short stop in Marzamemi, a former fishing village with breathtaking scenery, old tuna nets and pristine beaches.

2:30 pm: Departure for Ragusa Ibla. Arrival in Ragusa and accommodation at the De Stefano Palace hotel, a historic residence in the city center.

4:30 p.m.: Meet with the guide and tour the baroque city of Ragusa Ibla, a UNESCO heritage site, and its magnificent historic center; we will admire the Cathedral of St. George and the ancient "Archi" district, so named because it was topped by arches from an aqueduct.

6:30 pm: Aperitif in a historic Baroque mansion.

9 pm: Dinner at the famous Duomo restaurant (2 Michelin stars) in the heart of the city's historic center. Return to hotel.

DAY 4 MODICA

8:30 a.m.: Check-out, meet your guide in the hall and depart for Modica, we will take a walk through the oldest parts of the city to discover the Baroque and authentic flavors.

1:30 pm: Lunch in Modica at a typical tavern.

3 p.m.: Departure for Scicli, one of the most beautiful and ancient of the Baroque towns, looking like a real living nativity scene with its houses and narrow streets. Its historic center has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002.

4 pm: Departure for Catania, arrival and reception at UNA Hotel, located in the artistic and commercial heart of the city.

8 p.m.: Dinner at Palazzo Biscari in the imposing Baroque-style building on which it is built, the 16th-century Catanese bastions. This palace, considered an example of Catanese Baroque architecture and occupies an entire area. Return to the hotel.

DAY 5 CATANIA

8:00 a.m.: Check-out and meet your guide for a walking tour of Catania's historic center, discovering its wonderful monuments and palaces, its old market where the flavors and colors of tradition mingle. Visit to the famous Biblioteche Riunite "Municipale and A. Ursino Recupero" libraries.

Transfer to Catania airport.
