DAY 1 BARI APT / POLICORO

Transfer by motor coach from Bari to Policoro, hotel accommodation and overnight stay.

DAY 2 MATERA/ALBEROBELLO/LOCOROTONDO

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Alberobello, a Unesco site since 1996, thanks to its "Trulli" (there are more than 1,400 of them), typical architecture that uses dry-stone, i.e., without the use of mortar, for the construction of buildings with characteristic cone-shaped roofs that survive intact and functional from centuries past. Many of them are still used as dwellings while others as restaurants, store, small tourist accommodation. A tour to discover the history of the trulli, their architecture, the mysteries and symbolism of their pinnacles and lime-painted signs. During the tour visit the two districts of Trulli Aia Piccola and Monti, it will be possible to visit the Trullo Sovrano, a national monument to understand the past life and furnishing in a typical trullo. Lunch at the hotel and in the afternoon continue to Locorotondo, whose name derives from the circular layout of its historic center, and we will visit this quaint village included in the list of "Italy's Most Beautiful Villages." DAY 3 - MATERA Capital of Culture 2019

Breakfast and full day dedicated to a visit to Matera, recognized in 1993 as a "Unesco World Heritage Site" for the uniqueness of the "Sassi," ancient districts whose houses were carved into the limestone rock. Visit to Sasso Caveoso in particular to Rione Malve and Rione Casalnuovo, two of the most historic districts. During the tour it will be possible to visit the Casa Grotta, typically furnished showing how family life was organized in the houses of the Sassi, described by Carlo Levi in his book "Christ Stopped at Eboli," Cripta Rupestre. We will visit some sites used by Mel Gibson during the filming of the movie "The Passion of the Christ " and Casa Noha good of the FAI (Italian Environmental Fund).In the afternoon visit the "Crypt of the Original Sin" on the breathtaking scenery of the ravine of Matera, called the "Sistine Chapel Rocky Habitat," for the valuable frescoes inside, dating from the late 8th to early 9th century AD. DAY 4 ANGLONA/TURSI/CRACO

Breakfast and departure for the Sanctuary of Anglona, one of the most famous medieval monuments in the region, which according to tradition was founded in the 12th century on the site of the Greek Pandosia. The hill where the Sanctuary is located overlooks the entire valley of the Sinni and Agri rivers from a height that offers the possibility of glimpsing suggestive and enchanting views. We arrive in Tursi, a small town built by the Goths between the 4th and 5th centuries. The first nucleus of houses appeared on the hill where the Tower of Tursico, its founder who gave the town its name, was erected by the Saracens. Visit to the Rabatana or Arabatana, located at the highest point of the village and literally surrounded on each side by gullies, inaccessible ravines that constitute the fantastic world of Albino Pierro's "Jaramme ." In the afternoon continuation to Craco-Paese fantasma, one of the rare examples in Italy, has been thrilling travelers and numerous directors for some years now, who have chosen the Lucanian village to shoot their films: King David by Bruce Beresford, Saving Grace by Tom Conti, The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson. DAY 5 PISTICCI / BERNALDA / METAPONTO

Breakfast and departure for "Pisticci-the white town" for its handful of white, red-roofed houses all lined up in long rows that make up the urbanistic rarity of the charming Rione Dirupo, included in the 100 Wonders of Italy to be Safeguarded. Around Pisticci unravel clay natural wonders, typical of this Lucanian territory "the Calanchi ." We continue for a visit to the Amaro Lucano Museum - Pisticci Scalo, where we will discover in an itinerant tour, the history of the prestigious liqueur exported all over the world. Continue to Bernalda, tour of the town: historic center, Church of the Carmine, Church of St. Berardino with red brick exterior and Byzantine domes, and sterns of Palazzo Margherita owned by the famous film director Francis Ford Coppola, a native of Bernalda. DAY 6 MARATEA

Breakfast and departure for Maratea the "Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea" and a walking tour of the historic center: founded in the late Middle Ages on the slopes of the mountain to make it safe from Saracen attacks, the city of 44 churches ,as many as there are places of worship dotting its territory, several of which are custodians of evocative treasures. The Church of St. Vitus, the oldest in the city, and St. Mary Major ,founded between the 13th and 14th centuries, the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows and the 18th-century Church of the Immaculate Conception. The historic center is a medieval layout, with old houses adorned with loggias and small portals, crowded together and divided only by narrow alleys and angiports. Lunch in a restaurant In the afternoon we reach the Basilica of San Biagio, following the winding provincial road 103, consisting of highly scenic hairpin bends. With its white silhouette the Redeemer embraces sky, sea and land. From this position you will be able to admire the stunning natural terrace on the sea surrounded by greenery. Return to Policoro for an overnight stay.

DAY 7 VENOSA / MELFI

Breakfast at hotel and departure for Venosa - the City of Horace, ancient and rich in history in ancient Venusia Horace was born there in 65 BC, the most famous poet of Latinity. Visit the archaeological area, the amphitheater, domus, Aragonese Castle, the Unfinished and the Cathedral. Tasting and visit to the Cantine del Notaio producers of Aglianico wine. Breakfast and departure for Aliano the town of the Calanchi and the Carlo Levi Literary Park, immersed in an evocative and lunar landscape, which is also why it is among the " Authentic Villages of Italy ".The intimacy of its landscape and at the same time, the harshness of the deserted Calanchi expanses give Aliano, an austere and mysterious atmosphere that has attracted great filmmakers. DAY 9 CASTELMEZZANO ANGEL FLIGHT

Breakfast and departure for Castelmezzano - Lucanian Dolomites Park . Situated 900 meters above sea level, where you can admire Piazza Emilio Caizzo, a natural balcony that opens onto a village arranged like an amphitheater. The itinerary continues with a visit to the Mother Church, Santa Maria dell'Olmo dating back to 1544.The signs of the Templar order will gradually be the subject of the visit, which goes on through the very characteristic alleys of the village until we reach the remains of the Norman Fortress where we can admire the steps carved into the rock that led to a Norman lookout point, from which the view of the Gulf of Taranto is possible.
